Rental Requirements
What license do I need?
A valid license plus an International Driving Permit (IDP) or translation that matches your home country license class is required to drive in Japan.
Is there a minimum age?
The driver should be 21 years of age and hold a valid license.
Documents to bring?
Your passport, driver's license, IDP or translation, and payment details.
Booking
How do I book?
Go to Fleet & Rates and send us your booking/estimate request. We'll get back to you within 2 hours during opening hours to confirm availability and provide an estimate.
How do I pay?
We send an invoice to your e-mail, payable by major credit cards.
Is there minimum rental length?
Yes, 2 days.
Pickup & Return
Where is pickup?
Pickup location is Ginowan, Okinawa, near Chatan and American Village. Naha Airport and transfers throughout the Naha area can be arranged on request. The transfer cost is ¥3,000 each way; Naha Airport is approximately 30 minutes / 16 km away.
Is there public transport?
You can reach us from the Airport and Central Naha by local bus service.
What are the hours?
Pickup and return are arranged by appointment between 08:00–20:00. Let us know your flight times—we’ll do our best to accommodate.
Insurance
What’s covered?
Basic insurance with ¥50,000 excess is included; a Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) option can be added for ¥2,000 per day, limiting your financial liability for physical damage or theft to ¥0.
What’s not covered?
Negligence or driving under influence are not covered.
Are technical issues covered?
24/7 JAF roadside assistance is covered by your rental agreement.
Driving Rules
Which rules apply?
Please refer to Japanese Driving Rules.
Mileage & fuel?
Unlimited mileage. Return the vehicle with the same fuel level as pickup (full‑to‑full).
Gas station?
Regular fuel, very affordable. Check YouTube below for more details.
Tolls & ETC?
ETC card is not provided. Individual payment is possible at the toll station.
Parking & overnight?
You can use most public areas and parking areas to stay overnight. In addition, campsites are available on the island and can be booked directly.
Gear & facilities
What’s included?
Bedding, gas stove, basic kitchen kit (pan, pot, utensils), cleaning set, and USB charging, camping table, chairs, towels, snorkeling equipment, etc. You'll only need your personal belongings.
Are optional add‑ons available?
SUP board and Golf set can be rented upon request.
How will find public toilets?
The most useful options are Google Maps, roadside stations, convenience stores, beaches and public parks. All toilets are clean and free of charge.
Where can I shower?
Showers are available at public beaches (¥100), marinas, campgrounds or hot-spring/public bath facilities. We provide free towels, toiletries and small camping shower onboard the van.
Cooling & heating
How does the HiAce portable air conditioning work?
How is the air conditioner powered?
The AC is supplied by an independent power station that charges automatically while you drive.
How long does the battery last on a full charge?
It can run for 3 to 7 hours, depending heavily on your operating mode and weather conditions:
- Max Mode (400W–600W): Lasts about 3 to 4.5 hours of continuous running.
- Eco / Sleep Mode: Extends runtime to 6 to 8+ hours as the compressor cycles.
Can I run the AC continuously without draining the battery?
Yes. For 100% reliable and unlimited runtime, you can connect the AC directly to the shore power grid at campsites. All necessary power and extension cables are provided.
Can the AC be converted to Heater?
Yes. The power source is the same as above.

When is the best time to visit?
Okinawa is located in sub-tropical climate, allowing comfortable travel all through the year. For more details check below.
When is Typhoon season?
Okinawa's rainy season typically runs from mid-May to late June, characterized by high humidity and frequent heavy downpours. Typhoon season spans from May through October. For more details check below.
Emergencies
What to do in case of breakdown or accident?
The 24/7 JAF roadside assistance Members Card is provided in your rental agreement. Contact us if any problems occur for further assistance.
Cancellations
What is your policy?
As stated in our T&C:

More than 7 days before pickup: free of charge

3–7 days before pickup: 25% of the rental fee

Less than 3 days before pickup: 50% of the rental fee

No-show, if the renter does not arrive on the scheduled rental date without prior notice: 100% of the rental fee will be charged
